Following up

Lots of yeses come on the second or third contact. Following up isn't annoying if it's short and you stop when you said you would.

The schedule

  • Day 0. The ask. In person or on the phone. If they said "send me something," send your link that same day.
  • Day 3. Follow-up 1. One or two lines and your link. "Just making sure this didn't get buried."
  • Day 10. Follow-up 2. The last one. Say jerseys get ordered soon. Give them an easy way to say no.
  • Then stop. Mark it in your tracker.

If they gave you a day ("check back Friday"), use their day instead.

Every follow-up has a ready-made message in the app. Pick it, check the name, send.

Switch it up

Asked in person? Follow up by text. Text went quiet? Stop by once in person. Don't send the same message on three different apps.

When to stop

  • They said no. Say thanks and ask who else might be interested. See Handling no.
  • Two follow-ups, no reply. That's your answer for this season.
  • They seem annoyed. Trust that and back off.
  • The jersey deadline (February 12, 2027) passed. A jersey spot is off the table. Check your page for anything still open before you write them off.

No reply isn't a no forever. Tag them for next season.

What not to do

  • No "just bumping this" every two days.
  • No guilt. "The team really needs this" is your problem, not theirs.
  • No group texts to business owners.
